The Registrar Health Professions position was created under the Healthcare Professions Standards and Registrations Act 2007 and established in the Ministry of Health in December 2009.
The role of the Registrar is to keep the Registers of all health professions regulated by law and approved by respective Council for registration as well as assist the Professional Councils in any matters concerning the implementation of Council laws but especially with regard to registrations and issuing of Practicing Certificates.
The primary mandate for the Registrar and Professional Councils is to assure that all wishing to practice in Samoa as a health professional has met the requirements required for registration for safety of practice in Samoa.
All those wishing to Register as a Nurse, Midwife, Medical Practitioner, Pharmacist, or Dental Practitioner needs to register first with the relevant Council.
