ASTHMA

People with moderate or severe asthma are more likely to develop severe COVID19.  This is because the coronavirus affects the lungs. (JPG)

 

HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE

People with high blood pressure, especially, if older, are more likely to develop severe symptoms from COVID19 than those without.  There is also higher rate of death from coronavirus among individuals with high blood pressure. (JPG)

CHRONIC KIDNEY DISEASE
  • More likely to develop severe symptoms.
  • People on dialysis have weakened immune system.
  • People with kidney transplant have weakened immune system.    (JPG)
HEART DISEASE
  • More likely to develop severe symptoms especially if older.
  • Its harder for some people with Heart disease to clear the virus as they have weaker immune system.
  • A survey shows that 40% of those hospitalised with COVID-19 had heart disease.
  • COVID-19 affects the heart in multiple ways such as increasing workload on the heart, worsening heart failure symptoms.
