The Ministry of Health, on behalf of the Government and people of Samoa, today formally acknowledged the generous donation and support from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) during an official handover ceremony held at the Mobility Building, Tupua Tamasese Meaole (TTM) Hospital.
The Honorable Associate Minister of Health expressed sincere appreciation for the Church’s continued partnership and commitment to improving healthcare services in Samoa. The event marked the introduction of a Dental Van, the opening of the newly renovated Mobility Building, and the establishment of a Mobility Storage Facility, all of which represent significant advancements in strengthening Samoa’s health system.
“These developments represent more than infrastructure, they are powerful symbols of compassion, partnership, and enduring service,” the Hon. Associate Minister stated.
The newly provided Dental Van is expected to significantly enhance access to essential oral health services, particularly for communities in rural and underserved areas. This initiative will directly contribute to preventive healthcare efforts and support improved health outcomes for children and families across the country.
The renovation of the Mobility Building and the establishment of a new storage facility will improve the efficiency and dignity of service delivery for individuals requiring assistive devices. These improvements will play a critical role in restoring independence, mobility, and quality of life for many Samoans, particularly those living with disabilities.
The Ministry also acknowledged the invaluable role of the Church’s Regional Humanitarian Services for Welfare and Self-Reliance in the Pacific Area, whose unwavering support has made a tangible difference in the lives of many.
“This partnership reflects a deep understanding of Samoa’s needs and demonstrates a genuine commitment to uplifting communities,” the Hon. Associate Minister added. “It is a powerful reminder that when we work together with shared purpose and mutual respect, we can achieve meaningful and lasting impact.”
The Ministry extended its gratitude to all stakeholders involved including planners, healthcare workers, volunteers, and partners, whose dedication and collaboration ensured the successful delivery of these projects.
As Samoa continues to strengthen its health system, the Ministry looks forward to sustaining this strong partnership and advancing a shared vision of healthier, more resilient communities.
In closing, the Government of Samoa reaffirmed its heartfelt appreciation to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for their generosity and continued humanitarian service across the Pacific.
